A Special Journey

imageFather Michael Mohr says he knew he was called to live a religious life when he was in the 9th grade.

His path to a commitment to the Society of Jesus continued last weekend in a ceremony in Grand Coteau.

Father Mohr was known for his kind and reflective spirit while doing service time at Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School of Houston earlier this year.

A contingent of Cristo Rey Jesuit staffers travelled to Louisiana to share the special moment.

“This day was summarized well by one of our pilgrims who called it “AMDG”. Indeed everything about the day was to God’s greater glory! Loved it,” said Cristo Rey Jesuit Campus minister Father Anthony Wieck.

As part of his journey, Father Mohr undertook a vow of silence in a 30 day retreat.

He also completed a two week Pilgrimage that meant living on $5 for two weeks with no cell phone and existing on the kindness of strangers.

After the vow ceremony, the group from Houston visited the gravesite of Cristo Rey Jesuit Founding President TJ Martinez, SJ where Father Wieck reports the team was moved to tears.
