Soccer Team on a Roll!

The Cristo Rey Jesuit boys soccer team continues to make a strong showing as they face an important home game next Friday January 22.

Here’s a coach’s updated from our game against Mount Carmel this week:

The Lions beat rivals Mount Carmel in a 3-2 thriller. The opening goal was scored by junior captain Adrian Revuelta on a breakaway pass. Freshman Juan Avalos shortly put in the second. Mount Carmel would come back and tie the game at 2-2. In the second half, Avalos struck again with his second goal of the match on a shot from outside the box to win the game for the Lions. Assists came from senior captain Manuel Lopez and sophomore Gerardo Barron.   Junior goalkeeper Alex Meraz was man of the match with 14 saves as goalkeeper.

Our basketball team will also be playing at home next Friday January 22. Cristo Rey Jesuits weekly Parent/Guardian newsletter includes a schedule of games for all of the team sports.  We’d love to see many more parents and supporters in the stands on game nights!

***Editor’s note: The soccer team improved its standing to 8-0 with an away game victory January 15.
