Entire School Provides a Day of Community Service

Nearly 600 Cristo Rey Jesuit students, faculty, and staff members ventured out to be men and women for others as part of our annual Building the Kingdom day, providing nearly 2,000 hours of community service. After being loaded onto buses and shuttles, teams traveled to one of 18 organizations such as the Houston Food Bank, Plant it Forward, and the Transitional Living Center. As one student said getting on the bus, “We’re doing the work of Jesus.”

Students appreciated the impact they made at the various facilities and the lives they touched.  Ashley Roman went to the Lighthouse of Houston with her group. “They were a very special group of people,” Roman said. “They kept saying ‘thank you’.  It was moving how appreciative they were.”
