Gala Brightens Students’ Futures

Nearly 900 supporters celebrated during the Cristo Rey Jesuit “Moonlight Serenade” gala to raise funds for student scholarships and much needed school supplies, etc. Most Reverend Archbishop Joseph Fiorenza opened the evening with the invocation. Raye G. White was the inaugural recipient of the Father TJ Martinez, SJ, Legacy Award.

Remarks from school President Paul Posoli brought cheers from the crowd.  “I’m inspired every day by the determination, courage and ‘can do’ attitude of our students,” Posoli said.  “This year, we will graduate our largest class ever of 135 students; students who have already received 264 acceptances to 85 different colleges and universities.  I’m confident that these young men and women are the future leaders of our great city, and as Father Martinez often said, will transform the world as men and women for others.” As the senior class walked to the stage for recognition, everyone sprang to their feet clapping.
