Students Learn Through U.S. and International Travel

Three years ago, Cristo Rey Jesuit teamed up with DiscoverU, a non-profit organization that connects disadvantaged youth to Fantastic Learning Opportunities™ (FLO™). DiscoverU helps to guide students and provides resources for travel to international and U.S. campuses to help students pursue their interests. Since the program was initiated at Cristo Rey Jesuit, nearly 200 Cristo Rey Jesuit students have traveled the world with help from DiscoverU.

These summer programs help students study on college campuses as far away as Japan and as close as Rice University. Participating young men and women attend classes in the studies of business, engineering, medicine, leadership, aviation, architecture, culinary arts, photography, and computers, as well as intensive language courses for international students, all while gaining an understanding of what their future lives on college campuses could look like.

This summer, we have students who will be travelling to South Korea, Japan, Germany, Botswana, Spain and Costa Rica.  The selection process for students travelling in the U.S. is still underway.
