August 12, 7AM, Cristo Rey Jesuit faculty and staff lined the school’s hallways to participate in the tradition of the bam-bam brigade. With bright orange and yellow blow-up sticks (school colors) in hand, faculty and staff provided a warm welcome for the students on their first day of classes.
Following the bam-bam brigade, an all-school assembly took place in the gym. Students were formally introduced to the new school president, Paul Beck. As he addressed each class individually, he inspired them to make the upcoming school year a time of growth, leadership, and success.
At the end of the day, students received their Corporate Work-Study Program placement letters, revealing which of the 170 companies they will work for this school year. With letters in hand and smiles on their faces, the students completed a great first day at Cristo Rey Jesuit!
Cristo Rey Jesuit welcomed 134 freshmen for the 2019-20 academic year, making the school home to 528 students. Incoming ninth graders and transfer students underwent a two-week corporate training program where they earned workplace skills before starting their new jobs.
