Director of Technology

Job Summary:

The Director of Technology serves the mission and community of Cristo Rey Jesuit by providing leadership and direction in the effective use of information technology operations at our school. This is a hands-on position with direct oversight of the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of all applications, infrastructure, security, and networks. This position also provides comprehensive IT support and leads innovation for the teaching and learning activities of faculty, staff, and students. The Director of Technology collaborates with the Cristo Rey Network, the Jesuit Schools Network, and other school leaders on broader school initiatives.

IT Technician

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Establish annual Technology Department strategic goals in alignment with the school’s Mission, Vision and needs; identify, manage and evaluate strategies for implementation
  • Ensure that all technology equipment and systems (including, among others, servers, surveillance cameras, software applications, and network) are functioning properly and effectively in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Work directly with the Director of Academics (Principal) and the Director of the Corporate Work Study Program to ensure technology needs are met, including, among others, hardware, software, and data reporting
  • Oversee the school’s data systems (SIS, LMS, Microsoft Licensing, GSuite, Accounting); manage the licensing and contracts involved
  • Plan and manage the installation and maintenance of telecom and data networks
  • Oversee the efficient and timely response to help requests from faculty, staff, and students
  • Lead and implement the school’s E-Rate program
  • Monitor security measures to ensure an effective, efficient, and safe environment for the responsible and appropriate use of technology at Cristo Rey Jesuit
  • Develop, maintain and evaluate key vendor relationships; negotiate with vendors regarding pricing, purchasing, and implementation
  • Supervise the inventory of all technology assets for Cristo Rey Jesuit
  • Manage Technology Department staff in accordance with Cristo Rey Jesuit’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, among others, interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Prepare and submit the Technology Department annual budget; monitor expenses to ensure that allocations are accurate and expenses are within budget limits
  • Work closely with the Facilities Department in the implementation of technology initiatives


Additional Responsibilities

  • Advise the leadership of the school on technology policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in the Cristo Rey Jesuit Master Plan committee
  • Communicate technology related activities and information in a timely manner to all school stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with all departments on campus; assist in IT set up for events as needed
  • Collaborate with the Communications Office in the maintenance of Cristo Rey Jesuit’s web platforms
  • Stay current on technology trends and developments
  • Complete other duties and/or projects as assigned
Position Requirements:

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 40 pounds
  • Some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
  • Significant fine finger dexterity
  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
Educational and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Information Systems or equivalent; or 5 plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Student Information Systems (PowerSchool or other SIS), Data Analytics (PowerBI), Accounting software (Quickbooks), Database software (Access, MySql), Powershell, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of information assurance and security
  • IT management experience
  • History of success in problem solving, designing processes, and implementing methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and work well with all levels within an organization
  • Project management experience
  • Prior experience in educational organizations highly desired
